AI Financial Corp, a fintech firm with ties to World Liberty Financial, the crypto project supported by the Trump family, has completed the sale of its Canadian operations to Prime Delta, a New York-based investment firm. The deal was announced on Wednesday, marking a notable shift in the company's structure as it moves away from its North American expansion efforts.
The Canadian unit, which had been operating under the AI Financial brand, will now be integrated into Prime Delta's existing portfolio. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Sources familiar with the matter said the sale was driven by a strategic review of AI Financial's assets, with the company choosing to focus on its core markets and streamline its operations.
AI Financial has drawn attention in recent months due to its connection to World Liberty Financial, a decentralized finance venture that has received public backing from former President Donald Trump and his family members. That project has faced scrutiny from regulators and industry observers over its structure and fundraising methods, though no formal charges have been filed.
Prime Delta, which specializes in acquiring and scaling financial technology businesses, said in a statement that the purchase aligns with its goal of expanding into the Canadian market. The firm plans to retain existing staff and continue serving current clients, according to the announcement.
The sale comes at a time when fintech companies are navigating tighter capital markets and increased regulatory oversight, particularly those with political ties. Analysts say the move could help AI Financial distance itself from some of the controversy surrounding its affiliated projects, while giving Prime Delta a foothold in a competitive region.
Neither AI Financial nor World Liberty Financial responded to requests for further comment. The deal is expected to close within the next few weeks, pending standard regulatory approvals.
